West Milton, OH History
Early settlers came to the area in the 18th century, eventually naming their new home after the poet John Milton, but a possible conflict with another town prompted a name change to West Milton, and it became incorporated in 1834.
A rail line opening to Dayton in the early 1900’s spurred new interest in West Milton and Overlook Park became a must see for visitors, becoming the place for band shows, picnics and getaways.
