History
Beautiful scenery watched as Covington, Ohio began its life as a community on the east side of the Stillwater River in the 1800’s. Elijah Reagan built the first house on the same lot Michael Ingle built his double log cabin in 1816. On the site where Burk Drug Store now does business, the first store in Newberry Township went up as the tradition continues.
Settlement had barely begun when it was felt that the need for education should be a priority. The very first building put up for that purpose is long gone, and the second school house was built around 1819 a half mile farther north. Still standing today, Covington is steeped in the rich history of this country, surrounded by beautiful scenery, just waiting for you!
Since that time, Covington has slowly grown to the village it is today, with residents enjoying the small town life while being able to drive twenty miles down the road to the ‘big city’ of Dayton. Come take a look at what our residents already know, Covington is a great place to live and work! For more information about Covington, visit: http://www.covingtonohio.org/About_Covington.html
